Reeth, Swaledale and The Dales

Designing and producing fine hand-crafted furniture by its very essence should be done in a peaceful and beautiful rural location. Nowhere could be better for Philip Bastow than his Yorkshire Dales location at Reeth. Reeth itself is a quaint, distinctive and popular stone-built village that is one of the jewels of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Nesting deep in Swaledale below the steep slopes of the high surroundings moorlands, it is a landscape made famous in the reknowned television series 'All Creatures Great and Small' and today is well known as the heart of Herriot Country. It is a landscape of immense beauty and a rich heritage that exemplifies the very best of the English countryside! Not far up the dale are the small villages of Muker and Thwaite, whilst a short drive down the dale brings you to Richmond with its famous Castle, Richmondshire Museum, Green Howards Museum and Georgian Theatre, whilst nearby are Easby Abbey and Marrick Priory. It is also important not to forget the beautiful scenery, enhanced by a series of pretty waterfalls such as Wainwath Force, Kisdon Force and Catrake Force.
