Philip continues the time-honoured tradition of training his staff through apprenticeships with the most recent employee being Karl Smith who is in his third year.

The original workshop has now been converted into his home and the businees has recently moved into a new purpose-built Studio Gallery and workshop, also in the village of Reeth in Swaledale.

In addition to their immense skill, it is their philosophy and approach that are the essential ingredients of their success.

The key elements of their designs are simpleness whilst using the curves, natural colours and grains of the wood.It is the decorative character of each individual piece of timber and its natural burrs that determine what piece of furniture they are used for.

A visit to the Gallery will clearly demonstrate the high quality and individuality of the furniture. There is a natural harmony that emanates from each item - a natural balance - something that is timeless - it is well worth a visit to experience this essential character.
